Availability
All campuses of Texas Barber Colleges & Hairstyling Schools will be thoroughly examined for
the proper candidate for scholarship. Scholarships will be distributed as available from Barber
& Beauty Scholarship Fund, Inc. (BBSF).
Need
The successful applicant will show in their completed application his or her financial need for a
scholarship.
Application
The student that desires to receive a scholarship from BBSF should fill out the required application. Upon review by the Executive Director of BBSF applications will be either denied or accepted upon the following criteria.
Academic Requirements
The student desiring financial assistance from BBSF must have completed 150 hours in order to qualify for funds and must not be scheduled to graduate within the month of their
application. In addition, each student must have accumulated at least a 3.0 GPA. This will be
evidenced by an official school transcript sealed and provided by the student's student service
department.
Attendance Requirements
Each student desiring funds from BBSF must have an attendance rate of at least 85%.
Community Involvement & Letter of Recommendation
The successful applicant will have some sort of involvement in their local community, church, or other philanthropic organization. This will be evidenced by a letter of recommendation from a pastor, mentor, or supervisor.
Employment
All students wishing to successfully apply for a scholarship must be employed or must be actively seeking a job. Employment of the applicant will be verified by BBSF.
Written Testimony & Thank You
The student that is successful in their application and receives funding from BBSF will be required to write a thank you letter to the anonymous donor. The "thank you" letter will be approximately one-half to one-page in length and will include the following: (a) a brief personal history, (b) a brief testimony on how the money will help in their educational process, (c) their plan for the future. In addition, the student will be required to write a separate testimony of how scholarship funds will change their life (i.e., financially, personally, professionally).
